Detailed planning
Detailed planning is one of the two key aspects of network management. It defines what needs to be built and how. It requires precision and reliability.

Down to the last centimeter and decimal point
Detailed end-to-end design determines the exact location of objects such as points of presence (PoPs), fiber distributors, routes, crossings, and building entries. Using existing data from preliminary planning can save a lot of time and effort.
Ideally, the planner has access to network components whose technical specifications and physical properties have already been predefined, which have the required certifications, and for which the purchasing department has concluded a corresponding framework agreement. A library soluion with a drag-and-drop approach is undoubtedly relevant in this case.
Support for clarifying the required services (such as tender documents for civil engineering work) is just as desirable as detailed schedules and cost plans for project planning.

Integrated engineering functions and automatic calculations can provide valuable assistance right from the planning stage, for example by calculating visual perfomance during the design process. Compatibility checks can prevent incorrect cable installation, for example.
In mixed networks such as FTTx or HFC, these calculation functions are particularly valuable for identifying and resolving design issues such as insufficient power supply at an early stage.
Even without signal calculation, detailed planning presents many challenges: from trenches in brownfield sites to microducts in buildings. In short: what you plan should also be feasible.
